Who you are buying from

This site sells The Winterproof House, First Edition, Winter 2026, with the Cards and Lists that come with it, and the Second Edition free when it is done. Payment is taken by Gumroad, who act as the merchant of record, and their terms cover the payment itself.

What you get

Digital files: the book as one PDF with the cards at the back, and the twelve cards again as a separate PDF so they print in one go. There is nothing physical and nothing is posted to you. Gumroad delivers the files by email and on the page you land on after paying, and keeps them in your Gumroad library so you can download them again.

What it costs

The price shown at checkout, in US dollars, taken once. There is no subscription and nothing renews. Any tax due is collected by Gumroad at checkout and shown before you pay. The Second Edition comes free to everyone who bought this one.

Delivery

Straight away. The email is usually with you inside a couple of minutes. If it has not arrived, look in spam and under Promotions, and if it is still not there write to support@dickcolter.com and I will send it over.

Cancellation and refunds

Because the files are delivered immediately, the statutory cooling off period for digital content does not apply once you have started the download. It makes no practical difference here: I give thirty days to change your mind regardless, and you keep the book. The refund policy sets out how to ask.

What you may do with the book

Read it, print it for your own use, keep it on as many of your own devices as you like, and tape a page inside your own cupboard door. That is what it is for.

What you may not do

Resell it, give away copies, upload it anywhere, or pass it round a group. The copyright stays with the author.

What the book is and is not

This book is educational. It is not medical, electrical, plumbing or legal advice. Follow the manual that came with your heater and your local rules, and talk to your own doctor about your medicines and the cold. Never run a generator, grill, camp stove or any fuel-burning device indoors or in a garage. In an emergency, call 911. Every safety rule in the book names the agency that wrote it; where your own rules or your heater's manual say something different, they win. Prices move and stores differ, so every price in the book names the store and the month it was read.

Who Dick Colter is

Dick Colter is a created presenter. His face and voice are made with AI tools, and the channel is produced by a small team. That is why nothing in this book rests on his say-so: every safety rule names the agency that wrote it, every heater's limit comes off its own manual, and every price names the store and the month it was read. The methods were checked against those sources before this edition went out.

If something is wrong with a file

Tell me and I will fix it. A faulty or misdescribed file gets replaced or refunded however long ago you bought it, and nothing on this page affects your legal rights.

Changes

If these terms change, the date at the bottom changes with them. The terms that apply to your purchase are the ones on this page on the day you bought.
